ABBOTSFORD, BC — Former Member of Parliament and federal Cabinet Minister Ed Fast expressed his support for Iain Black for Leader of the Conservative Party of British Columbia. While he accepted the role as Co-Chair in January, today, he cited the urgent need for experienced, proven leadership to guide the province through challenging times.
“We are in a time of profound economic and political uncertainty. We need a leader who can unite us, inspire BCers and defeat the NDP government that is snuffing out hope for a brighter future,” said Fast. “I’ve spent years in Parliament, in Cabinet, and serving as Chair of the BC Conservative Caucus. I understand how the government works — and I know what it takes to lead.”
Fast emphasized that we cannot afford to gamble on untested leadership.
“This is not a time to take a risk on inexperienced or weak leadership,” Fast continued. “It’s a job for someone with know-how, and experience, lots of energy, established character and strong conservative values.”
Fast pointed to Iain Black’s unique combination of private sector and public sector experience as a defining strength.
“Iain Black is the only candidate who is truly well-rounded — with real experience in both business and government,” said Fast. “That experience is essential. Leading a province is no different — it requires judgment, discipline, and a deep understanding of how decisions impact families, communities, and our economy.”
“Iain Black is solutions-driven and focused on what matters most — strengthening our economy and delivering the leadership needed to restore British Columbia to the strong, prosperous, and beautiful province it should be,” said Fast.
“I am honoured to have the support of such an eminently respected Canadian and committed Conservative,” responded Iain Black. “Ed understands the importance of bringing strong values to the table and always understood and excelled at his portfolio under Prime Minister Harper. I am always happy to take his advice and proud to have him by my side.”
